Marking / Category System

To seek consistency our Festival adopts for all disciplines the marking and category system recommended by the Festivals’ and Adjudicators’ Council of the British and International Federation of Festivals, which is:

Moderate 78-80: A performance showing development of technique &/or communication.

Merit 81-83: A capable performance showing some artistic appreciation &/or technical ability.

Commended 84-86: A convincing performance technically and artistically.

Distinction 87-89: An excellent performance technically & artistically.

Outstanding 90+: An exceptional performance technically & artistically. (Marks will usually be 90-95 except in rare performances.)
